Throughout the year, DCF seeks to offer quality events for the neighborhood. These event provide opportunities to build bridges of connection, have fun together, and enjoy common interests. We call it “Getting Beyond the Church Walls”. Here is a listing of some of our annual community events:

Community Dinners

• Want to give the cook in your home a much needed break?
• Want to enjoy a great home-cooked meal without breaking the bank?
• Want to avoid the hassle of preparation and clean up?
• Want to relax and enjoy interesting conversation with friends?

Then Our Monthly Dinners Are For YOU!

On the first Wednesday of each month (September - May) a scrumptious dinner is served in our downstairs fellowship hall from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Prepared by members with full-time food service experience and served by volunteer ministries in our church, these dinners have become a great hit for our church and community. The monthly menu varies from ham dinner, to spaghetti, to soup and salad. Beverage and dessert is always included. Although free, donations are accepted to help defray the cost.

DCF Cruz In Car Shows

Cruz-In car shows are neighborhood events which are open to all cars, trucks, or motorcycles, old or new. Shows are held once per month from May through September. They are completely free and run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, rain or shine. Come and stay as long as you like. Meet fellow cruisers and check out all the rides. We are located near Monroe and Outer Drive in West Dearborn (see map). Look for our signs on Outer Drive and Monroe.

Vacation Bible School

Ask anyone in the neighborhood who has had children growing up in their home over the past 30 some years, where the best place to send their kids soon after school gets out is. The answer that you will frequently hear is Vacation Bible School at DCF. We are known in our community for putting on an excellent and exciting week of Bible School each June. Over 75% of the participants are neighborhood children not directly affiliated with our church.

The themes vary from year to year, but are always engaging. Highlights of the week include energetic singing, a humorous puppet show, a dramatic Bible lesson put on by a set of actors, fun crafts, refreshments, and outdoor games. All of this is capped off with a Community Night on Thursday night when friends and family are invited to share hotdogs with us, tour the facility, along with seeing and hearing what their children have been learning all week.

Bible School runs during the 3rd or 4th week of June from 9:30am-noon Monday through Friday. Children ages 4 through 14 are welcome.

Chili Cook-off

Over 20 different recipes were submitted last year for a true taste-testing, mouth-watering experience. Ribbons were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in the following categories: Normal, No Bean, White, and Non-Traditional Chili. A great way to enjoy a Saturday dinner hour in the fall.
