It is our desire to build bridges into our community that offer connection, compassion, and care. We know that all people matter to God and therefore they matter to us. Through a variety of service projects we want to have a positive impact on those around us.
Hearts-of-Love
A community service project that involves picking the name of a needy family, filling a basket of with food and gifts, and then delivering them in our community. We do this twice a year for the Easter and Christmas holiday. At Easter, we filled the baskets full of ingredients for a delicious Easter dinner, complete with a donated ham. At Christmas we fill the baskets with gifts for local children and gift cards for mom and/or dad.
Leaf-Raking
On a Saturday in November, a team of volunteers led by our Lifeguard ministry, goes into the community and rakes up leaves for the elderly and others who can benefit from this service.
Red Cross Blood Drive and Polling Location
With a desire to share our facilities with the community, we have an "open door" policy. We continue to look for ways of serving where God has placed us. Currently our facilities are used for an annual blood drive and as a voting location.
Heaven's Helpers
A volunteer group of handy men from DCF who would be glad to come over and look at your "to do" list. We do small home repair items like replace screens and windows, replace batteries in smoke detectors, and have even re-roofed the house of an elderly neighbor.
Week-Long Service Projects
Over the past few years, high-schoolers and adults have gone to various parts of the U.S. for week-long projects serving the less fortunate. Places where help has been offered include: Pittsburgh, PA; Savannah, GA; VA; Harlan, Kentucky; Monroe, LA; Hurley, VA and Slidell, LA.
